Amma Elizabeth “Bess” Cofield, 53, died Thursday, July 24, 2024, after a 26-year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. Bess fought the good fight but in the end, was ready to go to the Lord. Born and raised in Oxford, she was a graduate of the University of Central Florida.
A graveside service will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Greg Dykes officiating.
Bess is survived by her brother, John B. Cofield of Oxford; nephews, James H. Cofield, Scott W. Cofield, and Andrew G. Cofield, all of Memphis. A beloved and devoted sister-in-law, Natalie F. Cofield of Memphis. An aunt, Martha L. Stephens, and her only two first cousins, Jack D. Stephens and James Z. Stephens, all of North Carolina. A half-sister, Kathryn R. Barnwell of Jacksonville, Florida.
Bess was preceded in death by her parents Martha Glenn and John R. Cofield, Jr., her brother, Glenn W. Cofield, and her life partner Mark A. Dingeldein.
