Jean McCreary
A Celebration of Life Service for Ethel Jean Scott McCreary is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Baldwyn with Bro. Haley Uhrig, Bro. Stanley Huddleston, and Bro. Bryan Horner officiating. Pallbearers will be Ben, Rod, Brody, and John Mark McCreary; Chip Nanney, Kent Mortimer and Ryan Leister.
Visitation with her family will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to service time at the church.
Mrs. Jean, 92, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024. Ethel Jean was the thirteenth child born to Effie Lee Carlock Scott and John Scott on December 14, 1931. She married Claude Vernon McCreary on May 8, 1949.
Jean worked at Blue Bell Industry for 28 years. She retired from Bauhaus USA as Director of Human Resources in 2002.
As a young girl, she was baptized as charter member of East Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Known affectionately in the community and her church as ‘Mama Jean”, she was a devoted member of Baldwyn First Baptist Church, where she was a teacher, a member of various committees,and a trustee. Mama Jean was a faithful prayer warrior.
She is survived by her daughter, Joy Nanney (Jim); 3 sons, Sammy (Lisa), Jerry (Diane), Mark (Laura);
10 grandchildren, Chip Nanney (Nancy), Carmen Leister (Ryan), Brandice McCreary, Bronwyn Johnson (Gett), Britanny Mortimer(Kent), Ben McCreary (Mary Blair), Rod McCreary (April), Brody McCreary (Chelsea), Alise McCreary, John Mark McCreary; 20 Great Grandchildren, James Dexter (Katie Grace) and Dawson Nanney, Clara, Vivian, Virginia, Grady and Marie Leister, Autumn Raines (Dustin), Dylan and Emma McCreary, Hughes, Wiley and Vera Love Mortimer, Mary Scott and Hollis McCreary, Lydia and Davis McCreary, Knox and Annlee Grace McCreary; 2 great great grandchildren, Reid and Campbell Raines; her sister, Luna Pace; 38 nieces and nephews; caregivers , Lorraine Sandlin, Tammy Betts, and Genny Pearson.
Now with Jesus in Heaven, Mama Jean has joined her husband, Claude; her son, Claude “Bud” Vernon, Jr. and his wife, Delayne; her grandson, Brad McCreary; her parents, Effie and John; 7 brothers and 4 sisters; host of other family and friends.
