Jackie William Spradling, age 81, of Fulton, met Jesus on August 1, 2024, after a battle with leukemia. He was born on March 24, 1943, to Billy Turner and Billie Ivy Spradling of Fulton.
He graduated from IAHS Class of 1961 and IJC in 1963. He earned a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Education from Mississippi State. He was an educator and coach throughout Northeast Mississippi teaching math and social studies and coaching baseball and football. He also served as a counselor at ICC and Itawamba Vocational Complex.
Jackie grew up in Fulton roaming South Clifton Street with his childhood friends, Jerry Stubblefield and Butchie Lambert. He played and coached Little League baseball and often commented about what a great way to grow up in the many stories he was so famous for telling.
He enjoyed traveling and eating good seafood with Janice, his wife of 60 years. He loved playing golf and especially enjoyed the fellowship with his golfing buddies.
Jackie loved and cherished his girls, Susan and Amanda. He felt so blessed to have two sons-in-law, Derek and Jay, who loved his girls and cared for the family.
A member of First Baptist Church of Tupelo, he loved and enjoyed the fellowship of his Sunday school class who became dear friends.
Services will be Saturday, August 3, at 11:00 am at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Ricky Young officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Morris Spradling of Fulton; daughters Susan Sheffield (Derek) of Fulton, Amanda Scruggs (Jay) of Tupelo; grandchildren Wes Sheffield (Madi Moore and Jude) of Muscle Shoals, AL, Christian Sheffield (Becky) of Fulton, Mack Scruggs of Melbourne, FL, and Mary Scruggs of Tupelo and Birmingham, AL; great grandchildren Kinsley Harris, John Parker Sheffield, Jack Morris Sheffield, and Lenny Jane Sheffield; and brother Billy Turner “Butch” Spradling, Jr.
Pallbearers are Derek Sheffield, Jay Scruggs, Wes Sheffield, Christian Sheffield, Mack Scruggs.
Honorary Pallbearers are Lifelong Friends, Larry Jobe, Butch Lambert, Don Leathers, Boyce McNeece, Phil Morris, Jerry Scruggs, Jerry Stubblefield, Frankie Wallace, Van Wallace and the Fulton Country Club 12:00 Golfers, Roy Cresap, Danny Graham, Ken Hogue, Danny McBrayer, Ronnie Riley, Sam Paul Sands, Tony Sandlin, Mike Scott, Buddy Tennison, Blair Terry, Sam Tucker, Freddy Wallace, and Tony Wallace.
Visitation will be Friday, August 2, from 4:00-7:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity that Jackie loved and was a donor to since 1992, St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
