Connie A Prewitt

September 19, 1950 ~ August 25, 2024

Mrs. Connie A. Prewitt, 73, died Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow the service in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.

Connie was born on September 19, 1950, in Humboldt, Tennessee, to the late Nina Ray Smith and Roy Lee Arnold, Sr. A member of The Church of Jesus of the Latter-day Saints, she was loved by all and served in whatever capacity she could. A retired pharmacist, Connie had devoted her life to the study of medicine. Her knowledge of medicine and the body far surpassed modern medicine, developing an interest in herbalism and natural remedies. Connie thought of becoming a professional herbalist after her retirement, but instead stuck to being a back-door pharmacist to neighbors and friends, providing recommendations for natural treatments to many ailments. Her garden overflowed with plants and herbs she used in her practice, an abundance of flowers, and her treasured blueberry bushes. Connie’s love for the outdoors included the love of almost all animals, with the exception of pesky squirrels. She enjoyed collecting books and quiet evenings spent reading.

Most of all, Connie held a tremendous love for her children and family, who will forever cherish the wisdom she passed down.

She leaves behind the following note to them:

“For all those who love me: I love my kids and grandkids. I love the Lord and I hope you will always be true to the God who gave you life and the church. Kenny has been wonderful to me and I love him very much. Treat him as your brother and father. He is so good. Divide my stuff up or not. Just be close to your families and take of each other. No drama, no fussing. I love my sisters and brother and dad. I miss them a lot. I have a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! He loves us. Love, Connie.”

Connie is survived by her husband of 25 years, Kenny Prewitt of Oxford, MS; daughters, Amanda Baughman of Reidsville, NC and Amanda Faith Sapp and her husband, Joe, of Oxford, MS; sons, James Thomas Dewitt and his wife, Shana, of Knoxville, TN, David Alan Dewitt of Tampa, FL, Carl Dewitt and his wife, Regina, of Booneville, MS, and Kenneth Andrew Prewitt of Oxford, MS; sisters, Sondra Gail Arnold Bedwell of Texarkana, AR and Janice Arnold Miller and her husband, Mark, of Navarre, FL; brother, Roy Lee Arnold, Jr. of Paris, TN; as well as 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
