Carolyn Greene

Carolyn Ann Long Greene left the struggles of this life and went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. She was born on August 20, 1937, to Jesse Clinton and Annie Esma Burt Long.

Carolyn was a gift to those who knew her. She was a creative seamstress and cake decorator. If she saw a design, she could replicate it, whether it be sewing a little dress for her daughter or granddaughter or creating a beautifully designed cake. She was an artist in her own right. Carolyn was independent and believed she could do anything with God’s help. After the garment plant closed where she had worked for most of her life as a line supervisor, she had the opportunity to attend college for the first time at the age of 60. Carolyn was not intimidated by her age and believed she could do anything anyone else could do. After attending NWCC, she found her dream job of decorating cakes at Piggly Wiggly until her health made her retire at the age of 80. She loved making people happy through her talent of cake decorating. Every cake had to be perfect as she created them with love, never stopping for a break until it was just the way she wanted it to be. She proved herself in all of her life’s endeavors.

Carolyn was a devout Christian serving others through teaching Sunday school, directing congregational music, and baking snacks for Bible school, WMU, and the nursing home ministry. As her health began to fail, she provided Bible study in her home when she could no longer drive. She loved her Lord and was a dedicated worker in the church.

Carolyn lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jennifer Rogers; her grandchildren, Jesi ( Jim) McCormick and Lorri ( Derek) Woodard; great-grandchildren, Jodie (Reed) Gregory, Dr. Jaslyn (Cameron) Paschal, and Liam McCormick; sister, Lillie (George) Knox; and special friends, Lori Edmondson and Lucy Hughes. Carolyn leaves a legacy of strength, love, and service to all those who knew her.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Jesse and Annie Long; husband, Jessie Lawrence Greene; son in law, J.B. Rogers Jr, grandson, Jason Rogers; sister Bobbye Jean Logan; and brother, Rodney Burt Long.

A funeral service honoring Carolyn's life will be held on Friday August 30, 2024 at 2:00PM in Rocky Mount Baptist Church with Bro. Sam Yarbrough and Bro. Eddie Randolph officiating.
