Evelyn was born on August 15, 1931, in Thaxton, MS, to the late E.Q. Swaim and James Hanon Graham. She was a member of North Oxford Baptist Church, where she was a beloved member of the Grace Sunday School class. Evelyn prioritized time with the Lord, and always looked forward to sharing and learning more through her Sunday school class. As a lifelong native of Oxford, she devoted time to her community involvements, which included the Oxford Pilot Club and the Oxford Business and Professional Women’s Club. She retired from the Oxford Electric Department, where she worked as an assistant office manager for 29 years. Known for her smiling face and kind disposition, Evelyn was a staple of the department and loved by customers and co-workers alike. She’ll be missed dearly by all those fortunate enough to know her. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harlee Gay Russell and her sister, Kaye Graham.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Randall Gay “Randy” Russell and his wife, Kim, of Oxford, MS; a grandson, Shane Russell (Spenser); a step-grandson, Rhett Dixon; and one great-grandchild, Janie Russell.
