Barbara Anglin

July 29, 1950 ~ September 21, 2024

Barbara Louise Patterson Anglin of Saltillo, MS, passed away at her home on

September 21, 2024 due to failing health following Covid. She was employed at The Peoples

Bank (Renasant Bank) for approximately 30 years and about 10 years with Mississippi

Department of Corrections until her retirement.

At 74 years young, she was a devoted wife, a passionate sports fan, and a loving cat

owner. She was fondly referred to by several of MDOC coworkers as “Cat Lady” because of

her love for her cats, which was unmatched. Her cats were not just her pets, but cherished

companions who filled her home with laughter and comfort. She had a special bond with each

of them, taking the time to ensure they felt loved and cared for.

A true sports fan, she found immense joy in watching NFL football and cheering for her

favorite teams with a passion that was contagious. Her excitement didn’t stop there; she was a

loyal supporter of women’s collegiate sports and the Little League World Series and enjoyed

celebrating the determination and skill of young athletes. She was also looking forward to

following Arch Manning begin his collegiate career with Texas Longhorns. She took great pride

in following her husband “Coach Andy’s” soccer players and was always eager to share in their

victories and lend support during challenging times. In quieter moments, you could find her

enjoying a game of solitaire on her computer, a reflection of her strategic mind and love for a

good challenge. More recently, she enjoyed learning how to piece her first quilt. She took great

pleasure and concern in hearing stories and sharing special moments with her grandchildren

and great grandchildren. Our favorite memory of all was her gathered at the table for holiday

meals being surrounded by family. These simple pleasures were the backdrop to a life filled

with love and laughter.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years, John “Andy” Anglin. Her five daughters include

Tanya Barnes (John) of Loxley, AL; Jennifer Plaxico (Jerry) of Fulton, MS; Debra Karen

Thompson (Shane) of Phoenix, AZ; Maggie Anglin of Jonesboro, AR; and Amanda Anglin of

Farmington, MS. Her four siblings include Bill Patterson of Tupelo, MS; Sam Patterson of

Saltillo, MS; Ken Patterson of Tupelo, MS; and Nan Herring of Guntown, MS. Her nine

grandchildren include Tyler Mahler, Travis Mahler, Trey Barnes, Mary-Kathryn Senter (Baylee),

Leslie Wren, Peyton Wren, Serena Wilson (Shane), Tucker Thompson, and Gunner Thompson.

She was also a loving great-grandmother to 6 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James & Annie Lucille Patterson; one brother and

sister-in-law, Jim & Martha Jo Patterson; and one brother-in-law, Jimmy Dale Herring.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday morning, September 26, 2024 at Waters Funeral

Home in Baldwin, MS. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, following visitation, with Coach

Covington officiating. Burial will be at McNeil Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Barnes, Jerry Plaxico, Walt Roddy, Baylee Senter, Brandon Anglin and

Collin McGregor.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Gentiva in Tupelo, MS, for the kindness shown to her

by her aides and nurses. We would also like to say a special “Thank you” to Kim Mask for all

that you did for providing comfort and assurance during this transition.
