Edgar Lawrence “Ed” Moore

Mr. Edgar Lawrence “Ed” Moore, 63, died Thursday, October 18, 2024, at his home in Oxford, Mississippi. The funeral will be Monday, October 21, 2024, at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Hughes officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow the service in Christian Rest Cemetery.

Ed was born on June 9, 1961, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to the late Betty Sue Lawrence and James William Moore, Sr. He was the manager of the Facilities Department at The University of Mississippi. Ed was always on the move, whether spending time in the woods or enjoying a vacation with his family. An outdoorsman to his core, he could spend all day hunting turkey or deer. He had a great respect for nature and held a special place in his heart for his animals, treating each dog he had as a member of the family. Ed cherished his family beach trips, especially savoring the final trip they all took together. It brought him great joy to see his entire family together making priceless memories. Their recent family trip to Disneyworld was filled with all the joy, laughter, and chaos that Ed loved most. He was a loving husband and father, and was so proud to be known as Papa by his granddaughter, Mary Kendall. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, James William “Jim” Moore.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Amy Moore of Oxford, MS; daughter, Lynnley Moore of Oxford, MS; sons, Seth Moore and his wife, Whitnie, of Taylor, MS and Evan Moore of Oxford, MS; his granddaughter, Mary Kendall Moore; as well as two nieces and one nephew.
