Mr. Daniels was born on December 6, 1933, in Oxford, Mississippi, to the late Serena Starnes and Cleo Daniels. A graduate of Yocona High School, he was an avid basketball player and valuable member of the team. He was a longtime member of Springdale Freewill Baptist Church before attending New Prospect Baptist Church to be at the same church as his children and grandchildren. As a lifelong native of Mississippi, his number one love in life was the outdoors. Mr. Daniels felt fortunate to live in God’s country, enjoying countless days of fishing and hunting in his own corner of paradise. He was a retired farmer who loved working with his cattle and often worked alongside his son on their rental properties.

Mr. Daniels was known by all as a true southern gentlemen, treating everyone he met with respect and kindness. Among his group of many friends he was famous for his elaborate stories, or as he would put it, shooting the bull. He cherished his wife of 69 years, Janie, and the wonderful life they spent together raising a family, welcoming grandchildren, and in later years traveling with one another on many adventures and cruises. Mr. Daniels was a loving father and grandfather, who was filled with pride for the children he raised and the grandchildren he loved so dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Carolyn Gossett Daniels and his brother, Buel Daniels.

Mr. Daniels is survived by his daughter, Kathy Leggitt and her husband, Ronnie; son, Marty Daniels and his wife, Lisa; sister, Linda Daniels; a special uncle who was like a brother, Woody Lovejoy; all of Oxford, MS; his grandchildren, Jamey Leggitt, Blake Daniels, and Mallory Harris; and his great-grandchildren, Addison Harris, and Austin Harris.

The family extends a special thank you to everyone at Yalobusha Nursing Home for the love, care, and hospitality shown to Mr. Daniels.
