Bonny Renee Downs Vanderford

August 30, 1970 ~ February 24, 2025

Mrs. Bonny Renee Downs “Bo” Vanderford, 54, died Monday, February 24, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi. The funeral will be Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at First Pentecostal Church of Oxford with Rev. John Howell officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. in West Hall of Waller Funeral Home, and again on Wednesday, prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Burial will follow the service in Eastover Memorial Cemetery.

Bonny was born August 30,1970, to Paul & Linda Downs in Grenada, MS.

She married the love of her life, Darrick Vanderford and together they had 3 children, Lyndy, Hannah, and Jon Reese.

She was a loving wife and would have followed Darrick to the ends of the earth, or at least whatever city he was working in at the time. Together they traveled all over the country, visiting new cities, and sharing their adventures with their children.

Bonny was an incredible mother who was very involved in her children’s lives. Whether it was being class mom, teaching their Sunday school class, or being their girl scout troop leader, she never said “no” to helping out.

Bonny was extremely creative. Her Sunday school classrooms were always completely transformed to transport her class to a different world. She always had the supplies and enough glue sticks to make whatever she could imagine.

Bonny was always serving others. If she wasn’t volunteering at the school, she would be at the church doing whatever needed to be done. She loved to sing and used her voice to praise the Lord whenever she could, even in the car.

She is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Linda Vanderford, her niece, Kaitlyn Brooke Woodward, and niece, Heather Glenn Cummins.

Bonny is survived by her loving husband, Darrick Vanderford of Oxford, MS; two daughters, Lyndy Kate Floyd and her husband, Clay, of Natchez, MS and Hannah Busby and her husband, Mark, of Carthage, MS; son, Jonathan Reese Vanderford of Oxford, MS; her father, Paul Downs of Grenada, MS; her mother, Linda Christman of Gore Springs, MS; sisters, Sandra Tipton of Gore Springs, MS and Donna West of Grenada, MS; and four grandchildren, Bowen, Easton, Brody, and Booker.

The family would like to express their appreciation to her caregivers, Mrs. Sherry Russell, Mrs. Emma Bell, and Ms. Sue Stepp. All played an important part in Bonny’s care, and without them, her ability to remain at home would not have been possible.

Expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions in Bonny’s memory may be made to Tupelo Children’s Mansion, 1801 East Main Street, Tupelo, Mississippi, 38804, or online at www.mansionkids.org.
