Martha Bryant Hill

Martha Bryant Hill, 81, died Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at her home in Tupelo, Mississippi, following complications from dementia. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 17, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Eastover Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Maurice Bryant officiating.

Martha was born July 12, 1943, the second child of the late Ellis R. Bryant and Helen Gaines Bryant, in Union County, Mississippi. She married the love of her life, Walker Beck Hill.

She graduated from Toccopola High School and kept up with her classmates until her health failed her. A devoted mother, sister and friend, Martha loved to cook and have holiday dinners for family and friends. She retired from Internal Medical in Oxford where was an office support staff. Martha was a member of South Lamar Baptist Church, where she served in many positions, until moving to Tupelo, Mississippi in 2003, where she became a member of Traceland Baptist and Wildwood Baptist Church. Faith in Jesus Christ was her motivating factor in life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walker; her mother and father; daughter-in-law, DeeDee Hill; and brothers-in-law, Charles Faust and Dudley Looney.

Martha leaves behind her beloved sons, David Barry Hill of Fulton, MS and Howard Beck Hill of Tupelo, MS; granddaughter, Kelsee Hill Varie (Joey) and grandson, Avery Beck Hill, both of Germantown, TN; sisters, Ellen Looney of Olive Branch, MS and Zenda Faust of Carrollton, MS; brother, Maurice Bryant (Faye) of Braxton, MS; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
