Wilma Lee (Hazel) Boxx Looney
Byhalia- Wilma Lee (Hazel) Boxx Looney, of Byhalia, MS passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at the age of 90. Wilma Lee was born on January 24, 1935 in Baldwyn, MS. She went by Wilma Lee, Hazel, Mother, Mama, MaMaw, and Granny. Wilma’s greatest joys was being with her children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She loved going on vacation with her children, going shopping even though she ended up returning most of what she bought, loved going to church when she was able. She definitely had a green thumb and loved planting flowers and watching them grow and bloom. She loved being outside. It was a true joy of hers. She also loved looking at her hummingbirds out her kitchen window. At different times she has helped all her daughters make Chicken and Dressing at Thanksgiving. She loved making gravy and biscuits and chocolate gravy for her grandchildren. Wilma was a devout Christian and member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Byhalia, MS. We will always carry her memories in our hearts.
Friends and Family are invited to a visitation with the family on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 12:00 p. m. to 2:00 pm with Funeral to follow at 2:00 p. m. at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn, MS.
Wilma is survived by four sisters, Linda Nichols, Brenda Barnes, Cindy Bullock, and Benita Scott, three daughters, Peggy Frederick (Paul) of Olive Branch, MS, Deborah Duckworth (Darrell) of Nesbit, MS and Deloris Brown (Travis) of Byhalia, MS, 2 sons, Earney Sheffield of Pontotoc, MS and Buddy Looney (Sharon) of Byhalia, MS, 10 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Boxx and Della Robinson, her sisters, Louise Boxx and Margaret Boxx, her brothers, Eugene Boxx, Robert Boxx, Larry Boxx, Terry Lee Boxx and Kenneth Robinson, her son, Michael Sheffield and her grandson, Patrick Sheffield.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Hughes, Kevin Hughes, Jason Wayne Adams, Chris Jones, Tyler Sheffield, Travis Looney and Buddy Looney.
