Cecil Glenn Kellum

November 4, 1934 ~ August 16, 2025

Cecil Glenn Kellum of Oxford, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at 90 years old on August 16, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford due to complications from a fall.

The funeral will be Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Dr. Scott Kellum officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow the service in Anchor Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in November 1934 in Oxford to Cecil and Mildred Kellum, he lived a life marked by service, family, and faith.

A proud veteran, Cecil Glenn served as a Sergeant in the United States Army in the early 1950s. After his military service, he had several careers, including as a builder and in insurance sales, before ultimately settling at the University of Mississippi (his Alma Mater), where he retired in 1999 from the Placement Office.

On December 1, 1961, Cecil Glenn married the love of his life, Helen Ward Kellum, with whom he shared nearly five decades of love, faith, and partnership. Together, they devoted their retirement to missionary work, traveling and serving communities with compassion and purpose until Helen’s passing in 2010. He spent his later years enjoying rural country living and time with his children and grandchildren—especially his great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Kellum (survived by Gloria). His baby sister, Jan Bounds (widow of John Bounds), resides in Oxford, MS. He is survived by three sons: David (Mary) of Oxford, MS; Jeff (Ellen) of Oxford; and Scott (Cathy) of Zebulon, North Carolina; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one more on the way. He was a member of Anchor Baptist Church and the steady foundation of his family—a man of faith and generosity.

His presence will be profoundly missed, but the impact of his life endures in all who loved him. The family is eternally grateful for the confidence they have today, knowing that Cecil Glenn Kellum made Jesus his King.

                                Psalm 1:1 – 3

1    How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,

      Nor stand in the path of sinners,

      Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

2    But his delight is in the law of the LORD,

      And in His law he meditates day and night.

3    He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,

      Which yields its fruit in its season

      And its leaf does not wither;

      And in whatever he does, he prospers.
