Luna Lee Scott Pace, affectionately known as “Mama Butch” passed from this life to her eternal home on October 13, 2025 at the age of 96½ years.
She was born to John and Effie Carlock Scott on April 23, 1929 in rural Prentiss County. She graduated from Wheeler High School in 1948. She played on her high school girls basketball tem and enjoyed watching basketball games on TV well into her eighties.
She married Troy J Pace in March of 1949. From that union they had two sons. Ronald Jarvis Pace was born on Ma 08, 1951 at Kesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. Phillip “Petey” Pace was born in Wimpole Park, England on October 22, 1956.
Mama Butch retired from Blue Bell and Lucky Star after spending many years in the garment industry. In addition to watching basketball, she enjoyed reading, working word search puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune. However, her favorite activity was spending time with family and grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was known to let one of her young nephews sit on her kitchen table and eat from the sugar bowl.
She had faith in God which she exemplified in the way she lived out her life.
Survivors are her son: Phillip “Petey” Pace (Tammy Newman Pace), daughter-in-law: Jamie Brown Pace, Grandchildren: Angelia Cockrell McKenzie, Losa Cockrell Brown (Lonnie), Jenny Pace McPheters (Nathan), Caleb Pace, Hannah Pace Hylander (Chris), Great Grandchildren: Paige McKenzie Morrison (John) Seamus Quinn Whittemore, Anderson Pace McPheters, Maggie Claire McPheters, and Samuel Asher McPheters, Great Great Grandchildren: Taegan and Boone Morrison, Sister-in-Law: Lena “Sis” Scott.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Troy Jarvis Pace, Son: Ronald “Duck” Jarvis Pace, Grandson: Ronald Scott Pace, Brothers and Sisters: Velma “Sister” Kesler (Clarence), William “Doc” Scott (Ozella-Tommie), RW Scott (Bertha Lee), J C Scott (Isabell), Andrew “Brownie” Scott (Mary), Mary Cook (Fred), Alice Sandefur (Louis), John Scott (Lucy), Jack Scott (louise), Roy Scott (Ann and Hazel), Hattie Burns (Norris), Jean McCreary (Claude), Brothers-in-Law: Coy Washington Pace (Mildred), Chuck Sullivan (Jean), Alfed “Wimp” Sullivan (Jessie Mae).
Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday October 18, 2025, at the Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn, MS with Brother Kim Ratliff officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday October 18, 2025 from 12:00 pm until service time at Waters Funeral Home.
