Mary Lou Holmes Gossett

Mrs. Mary Lou Holmes Gossett, 93, died November 27, 2025, at her home in Oxford, MS. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Gossett officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:30 P.M. Burial will follow in Delay Cemetery.

Mrs. Gossett was born in Lafayette County, MS to the late Benjamin Leeroy and Bernice Lattie Hodge Holmes. She and her late husband, William Howard “Buck” Gossett, were married 51 years prior to his death in 1998. They were both long time and faithful members of Delay Baptist Church. They dedicated their lives to their family and greatly loved bringing grandchildren, and great grandchildren into their home.

Survivors include her daughters, Ann Sockwell of Oxford, MS, Rita Clark (Tim) of Oxford, MS, Peggy Montgomery (Jackie) of Toccopola, MS; sons William Gossett (Brenda) of Water Valley, MS, Sammy Gossett (Janet) of Water Valley, MS, Johnny Gossett (Kem) of Oxford, MS, and Dean Gossett (Bonita) of Oxford, MS; sister, Syble Barry of Olive Branch, MS; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by Ashley Gossett and Madison Vance.
