Booneville- Mary Ellen Johnson, 85, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 14, 2025. She was born Sept. 19, 1940 in Banner, MS to Elmer and Ruby McCormick Butler. She married the love of her life, W. Joel Johnson at a very young age that lasted 64 years, before his death.

They had one son, Mike and their pride and joy was traveling to all the field trials to watch him run and compete with his bird dogs. She was a member of Booneville Church of Christ for 60, years. She had obeyed the gospel and tried her best to serve the Lord faithfully, teaching Sunday School for children, 2-5 years old for 58 years. Her church family was very important to her. She was employed at Prentiss Manufacturing 43 years, starting as a cuff setter and worked her way up to line supervisor to head supervisor. Mary Ellen enjoyed all the years getting to travel with her husband and all the Golden Circle’s vacations and mission trips.

Funeral services will be at Waters Funeral Home on Monday, December 15, 2025 @ 1:00 p. m. with Bro. Jim Estes officiating. Burial will be in Little Brown Cemetery.

She was survived by her son, Mike Johnson (Darlene), grandson, Micheal Johnson (Drea); sister-in-law, Linda Butler; very special friends and neighbors, Keith and Patilda Maness; her dear friend and hair dresser, Marie Roberts and friend, Pat Gray; host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her husband, W. Joel Johnson (2021); parents, sisters, Dorthy King (Warren), Betty Whitehead (Maxwell Ray), Carolyn Fisher (Mike); brothers, Malcoln Butler and Eugene Butler.

The family wishes to express gratitude and appreciation to the caregivers, hospice nurses, aids and Dr. Lawrence Dennis, who so kindly took care of our mother.

Visitation will be at Waters Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 – 1:00 p. m.
