Danny Lee Holcomb

June 13, 1948 ~ December 15, 2025

Danny Lee Holcomb, 77, of Guntown, MS, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on June 13, 1948, at home in Golden, Mississippi, Danny lived a life of service and devotion to his family, country, and faith. At the age of 12, he made the most important decision of his life—accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and following Him in believer’s baptism. This faith is now a source of comfort to family and friends.

Danny honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for more than 20 years. Rising to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, he also completed two tours in Thailand during the Vietnam War. His dedication to duty and country was unwavering. After retiring from the Air Force, Danny continued his commitment to public service by becoming a Deputy Sheriff in Sumter County, South Carolina.

Danny had a natural talent for electronics. An avid HAM radio and Morse Code operator for many years, he also had a talent for tinkering with electronics. In his later years, he enjoyed sharing stories from his lifetime – tales of military life, childhood memories, and family gatherings. He had an incredible memory and could recall events from decades ago with vivid detail. Danny earned many honors in his lifetime, but his greatest source of joy was his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He also enjoyed simple pleasures—sitting on his front porch watching the birds, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle through open roads, watching country western movies, listening to classic country music, and spending time with horses, which held a special place in his heart since childhood. It is comforting to imagine him now riding freely across Heavenly pastures.

Danny’s legacy lives on through those who loved him deeply. He is survived by his former wife, Linda Palmer Holcomb; their daughters Kimberly Lacey (Anthony) and Tammy Banning (David); grandchildren Adam, Anthony, Caley, Alexandria, Laura, David, Emily, and Lindsey; and great-grandchildren August, Arizona, Aspen, and Autumn. He is also survived by his brother Charles Holcomb (Mary).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Ruby Holcomb, and his sister Deborah.

Danny’s life was enriched by the many people who shared in his journey—family members, friends, fellow servicemen and women. We are grateful for each person who invested their time and love into being part of his story. In place of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi—a place that provided comfort and care during Danny’s final days. Danny is now completely healed, in Heaven with loved ones who have gone before him. Selah.

Services will be held at a later date. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
