Mr. Rubin Lee Jaco, 80, died Friday, January 2, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 7, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Minister Allen Drewrey officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery in Randolph, MS.
Born on June 29, 1945, in Randolph, MS to the late Virgil and Sadie Grace Watts Jaco, Rubin led a life of service through his time in the Mississippi National Guard and his career as a firefighter and Assistant Fire Chief of the Oxford Fire Department. He loved being outdoors and found great solace in a good day fishing on Sardis Lake or in the still and quiet of his deer stand. He could spend hours searching for arrowheads to add to his collection or piddling around his shop restoring old vehicles. In addition to his parents, Rubin was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Vaughn Jaco and his brother, Quay C. Jaco.
Rubin is survived by his wife, Jo Marquis Jaco of Oxford; a daughter, Sherry Jaco Nations of Oxford; two stepdaughters, Whitney Pullen and her husband, Clark of Oxford and Katelyn Thornton and her husband, Andrew of Oxford; four step-grandchildren, Harrison and Hattie Pullen and Ava Creek and Stetson Thornton as well as many beloved extended family members.
