Wanda “Kay” Dunson Allen

February 19, 1959 ~ January 4, 2026

Mrs. Wanda “Kay” Dunson Allen, 66, died Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi, Oxford, MS. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Waller Funeral Home with Brother Jay White officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

Mrs. Allen was born on February 19, 1959, in Memphis, TN, to the late David and Brutonia Dunson. As a co-owner of Ray’s Truck Stop Café, with the best round steak and gravy you have ever eaten, many considered Kay a part of their family. She loved the community and especially Shiloh Baptist Church. Wanda was very active and played a vital role in raising her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were her world and she loved them greatly.

In addition to her parents, Kay was also preceded in death by her husband Gayle Allen.

Survivors include her daughters, Heather White (Jay) of Saltillo, MS and Kayla Cargile of Birmingham, AL; sons, Jeremy Cargile (Stancy) of Murphreesboro, TN and Josh Cargile of Oxford, MS; sisters, Patty Pruitt of Oxford, MS, Charlotte Schramm of Olive Breanch, and Sarah Dunson of Fort Valley, GA; brothers, Tommy Dunson or Victoria, MS and Jessie Dunson of Hernando, MS; grandchildren, Caitlin, Corbin, Ethan, Lily, Hutch, Brantney, Brayden, Bradley, Adriana, Yali, and E.J.; and great grandchildren, Mateo, Toni, J.J., and Bella.

Expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions in Mrs. Allen’s memory made be made to Shiloh Cemetery Fund, 70 County Road 225, Oxford, MS 38655.
