Mrs. Brenda Fern Howell Gibson, age 86, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at her home in Abbeville, MS. She was born on January 12, 1940, in Oakdale, LA to the late Hallis Groce Howell and Artie Hudnal.
Brenda shared a loving marriage of 45 years with her husband, Cecil E. Gibson, until his passing. She was a devoted homemaker and caretaker, always placing the needs of her family above her own. Her home was a place of comfort, warmth, and unwavering love.
Later in life, Brenda retired to Abbeville after many years in Baytown, TX. It was here in MS, that she found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren, delighting in their laughter and energy as they filled her home. She cherished those moments deeply. Brenda also had a special love for animals, especially dogs, which brought her great happiness. In her quieter times, Brenda enjoyed relaxing with a good television show or movie, or playing in her yard- finding simple pleasures in everyday life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil E. Gibson, and her sister, Beth Sigler.
She is survived by her daughters, Jamey Andrews and Gina Gibson Laird; her brother, Hal Howell; grandchildren, Chris Mahaffey (Kelsy) of Heber City, UT, Cody Truett (Joline) of Oxford, MS, and Meagen Williamson (Patrick) of Gallatin, TN; and six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
