NETTLETON – Charles Ray Darby, Jr. 49, crossed over at the NMMC on Friday, July 10, 2020. Born in Memphis, TN on May 31, l971, to the late Charles Ray Darby, Sr. and Elizabeth Ruth Howe Darby, Peanut lived in Tennessee and Arkansas but claimed Nettleton as home the last several years of his life. He was employed in the home construction and repair business. Peanut was a master roofer and framer and simply enjoyed building things. He even made homemade wood frames for his family’s photos, which he cherished. He was a guitarist and enjoyed singing, especially old country style. He loved his children and grandchildren passionately.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Pastor Corey Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Darby family plot at Bethel Cemetery near Enid, MS. Visitation will be from 9 AM – service time Wednesday only at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.
Peanut is survived by his children, Annie Ruth Hankins (Eric) of Big Creek, MS, Brittany Reynolds (Keith) of Nettleton, and Alicia Presley of Batesville; his mother, Elizabeth “Liz” Darby of Nettleton; his grandchildren, Prue Hankins, Lachlan Hankins, Jody Wilson, Jaylen Darby, Misty Presley, Hunter Presley, and Hannah Mahon; his siblings, Geraldine Hall, Patsy Darby, and Ruth Ann Darby; several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his dad, Ray Darby, Sr.; his grandparents, Fairy Mae Darby and Henry Clay Darby; and a granddaughter, Christy Presley.
Pallbearers will be Eric, Keith, Dustin, Tyler, Duke, Rusty and other family members.
