Robert D. “Bob” Barnhill

August 2, 1952 – August 20, 2020

West Point, MS – Robert Dale “Bob” Barnhill, 68, passed away on August 20, 2020 at his residence in West Point. He was born August 2, 1952 in Jackson, MS to Edna Tyler and Robert J. Barnhill. Bob worked as a Machinist for True Temper for 10 years and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the Navy. He married Judy McDonald Barnhill on August 28, 1971, Pell City, AL.

Bob was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed “tinkering” with anything electronic. Bob created one of the first electronic billboard back in the late 1970’s. He also enjoyed going fishing and spending time with his favorite companion “Cricket”.

Funeral services will be Sunday, August 23, 2020, at 2:00 PM from Riverside Baptist Church in West Point, MS, with Bro. Jim Salee officiating. Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery in the Siloam Community. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Judy Barnhill of West Point; one son, Tony Barnhill of West Point, MS, one grandson: Jason Barnhill, one great-grandson: Jaxson Barnhill, one sister; Cathy Edwards (Mike) of West Point, MS, one brother; Jerry Barnhill (Mary) of West Point. He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert J. and Edna Tyler Barnhill, one sister, Kay Akins, Liberty, MS and one brother, Terry W. Barnhill of Cedar Bluff.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Edwards, Derick Edwards, Jeremy Barnhill, Randy Akins, Jerry Barnhill, Mike Edwards.

Memorials may be made to West Point/Clay County Animal Shelter, 5122 Old Tibbee Road, West Point, MS, 39773.

Visitation will be 1:30-2:00 prior to service time at Riverside Baptist Church.

  1. Dear Barnhill Family, I am deeply sorry for your loss, and would like to share a scripture with you. The scripture is found at Acts 24:15, in this scripture the Bible speaks of a “resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Yes, there will be a time when we will be able to see our loved ones again. I hope this message is comforting and encouraging during this difficult time.
