Larry Joe James, 72, of Bruce passed from this life on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson after an extended illness. Larry Joe graced this world with his unforgettable presence on December 22,1947; he was a son to the late C.L. “Bill” James and Grace Lorette“Bootsie” Moorman James.
Larry Joe, a 1966 graduate of Bruce High School, faithfully served his state in the Mississippi National Guard for six years, always ready to answer the call if disaster struck. In conjunction with his military career, Larry Joe spent an expansive fifty- two years in the heating and cooling industry forming ducts and setting units as an HVAC technician. In contrast to his work, He spent many hours of his life baiting a hook and casting a line with the hopes of a good day fishing. When summer faded to fall and the trees shed their leaves, Larry Joe could be found sitting patiently awaiting a deer while hunting. When the dinner bell rang and he had an excuse to be in Grenada, Larry Joe could be found at his favorite restaurant, Jake and Rip’s. Among all of Larry Joe’s hobbies, next to looking after his chickens, living life to the fullest topped the list. He had a large time wherever he went, but that large time never shadowed the even bigger heart he had for others. Larry Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bruce, a place where he learned about the Lord and His promise of eternal life. Although Larry Joe has left our presence his joking manner and familiar laugh will continue to live on in our hearts and minds as precious memory.
Larry Joe leaves behind an expansive family. Four daughters: Kim Easley and husband Tony of Houlka; Julie Starks and husband Scott of Bruce; Kerry McGregor and husband Chris of Pittsboro; Jordan McLeod and husband Andin of Fairhope, Alabama; one brother, Jerry ”Squeaky” James and wife Robin of Bruce; eight grandchildren: Karman Starks, Dowden Taylor, Connor Starks, Cailey McGregor, Ann Murray McLeod, Capps McLeod, Jenna Beth Jaggers, and Jake McGregor; nephews: Nick (Natalie) James and Tyler James; niece; Kristie Adams; great nephew, Ethan James; great nieces: Elaina James, Ella James.
