Loree Goheen Allen was born in Ashland, Kentucky on August 21, 1964. A graduate of Ashland Holy Family High School, she attended Ashland Community College before attending and graduating from Transylvania University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught 3rd grade at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Elementary School for five years before returning to the University of Kentucky to obtain a fifth-year certification in Special Education, Learning and Behavior Disorders for the Severely, Profoundly Handicapped. After their sons were born, she stepped away from elementary education to be a homemaker. She later became the Director of Experiential Education at the Texas Tech School of Pharmacy, a position she held for over eight years. Upon their move to Ohio, Loree served to oversee experiential education for the Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Pharmacy. When her sons entered high school, she turned her focus to them and stepped away from full-time education-related work. During her time in Oxford, she worked part-time as a realtor for Re/Max Realty for several years before stepping away from that to focus her efforts on service outreach work for St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Her work for St. John included service as a Eucharistic Minister, supporting More Than a Meal and Sunday evening spaghetti suppers among many others. Loree made parish service work a priority for every church she attended throughout her life. She reflected Christ’s love through her personal commitment to the Beatitudes’ principles.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, of whom her two children were her everything, Loree was, above all, a kind and gentle person whose love knew no bounds and whose heart was known by all she met. No one was unlovable in Loree’s eyes and no one was without a true friend in her presence. Throughout her life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her and whose words she lived by. The love she cultivated in her life and instilled in others is everlasting and will endure in our hearts forever.
Loree is survived by her husband, David D. Allen, II of Oxford, MS; her sons, David D. Allen, III and Drew Patrick Allen both of Oxford, MS; her parents, Lawrence Michael Goheen and Connie Goheen of Ashland, KY; a sister, Terri Goheen Srinivasan and her husband, Raghu of Maysville, KY and two brothers, John Goheen of Chicago, IL and Joseph Goheen of Ironton, OH.
