Raymond Guyton, Jr.

August 5, 1938 ~ March 5, 2021 (age 82)

TUPELO – Raymond Oather Guyton, Jr., 82, died Friday, March 5, 2021 at North Mississippi Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Monroe and Lee County, he was the only child born to Raymond O. Guyton, Sr. and Edna Romage Guyton. He was a 1956 graduate of Smithville High School and attended North East Community College. On March 1, 1996, he married Betty Satterfield. Raymond had a passion for carpentry and spent much of his life working in construction. He retired from Lee County after over 9 years of service as the Maintenance Director at the Courthouse and Justice Center. When he wasn’t working, he was either out on the water casting a line, lost in a book, piddling in his shop, woodworking or playing dominoes. He was a longtime member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Public visitation will be held from 1 until 2 PM Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. Services will be private to the family. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Satterfield Guyton of Tupelo; three daughters, Ginger Lancaster and David of Corinth, Regina Todd and Jim of Tupelo and Amy Phipps and Spencer of Mooreville; two sons, Harold Guyton and Judy Pace of Corinth and Chris Whiteside and Donna of Tupelo; eight grandchildren, Laura, Jonathan, Derek, Joseph, Cole, Justin, Colton and Kaden; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
