Mr. Scott Hardeman Murphy, 55, died Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at his home in Oxford, MS.  The memorial service will be Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 12:00 Noon at Oxford-University United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Rester officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:00 A.M.

Scott is remembered by his family as having a larger than life personality.  Whatever the task, big or small, he did everything to the extreme.  From grilling, to construction, to various outdoor activities, Scott truly loved to be people’s “go to guy”.  He enjoyed various types of hunting and fishing, with a specific interest in gator hunting.  A thrill seeker, Scott loved to explore caves and caverns, a unique sport known as spelunking.  Scott was a talented cook and enjoyed brewing beer at home. He found great joy in preparing meals for others and entertaining his friends and family. He was married to his wife, Camille, for nearly 30 years.  Some of the best memories they shared together were their family vacations.  Whether traveling to the beach or the mountains, they always cherished the quality time spent together.  Most memorable was the time they travelled to Yellowstone National Park, and a week the whole family spent on a house boat on Cumberland Lake.  Everyone who knew him would agree, Scott was one hell of a guy!

He is preceded in death by his father, Ronald Neil Murphy; and his nephew, Blake Murphy. Scott is survived by his mother, Sara Hardeman Murphy of Moultrie, GA; his wife, Camille Bradshaw Murphy of Oxford, MS; two daughters, Megan Murphy of Pearl, MS and Anna Murphy of Starkville, MS; one son, Forrest Murphy of Gulf Breeze, FL; a sister, Cindy Murphy Law and her husband, Ken of Chattanooga, TN; and a brother, Jeffrey Murphy and his wife, Melanie of Bainbridge, GA.
