Erma Marie Dowdy, 75, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born on March 19, 1946, to Alva Ainsworth Pope and Sarah Louse Lutz Pope. Erma loved to sew, knit, crochet and gardening.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 12:00 PM until service time. Funeral Services will be at 3:00 PM at Tuscumbia Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow. Bro. Rex Bullock and Bro. Jerry Hooper will be officiating. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Marshall Eugene Dowdy; three sons, Alva Dowdy (Renee’) of Ripley, MS; David Dowdy (Kandi) of Rock Port, MO; and John Dowdy (Sonia) of Red Bay, AL; one brother, Cameron Pope (Sharon) of Fairfax, MO; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jim Pope.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Hooper, Jesse Vaden, Tommy Hooper, Randy Ryan, Sam Spencer, and Fred Tyler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Dowdy, Robert Dowdy, Weston Gates, Conner Dowdy, Carter Dowdy, and J.J. Giesken.
