Thaxton – Robert Lee Griffin, 68, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford. He was born September 27, 1953 in Aurora, Illinois. He was a retired truck driver. He loved playing the guitar and singing, fishing, caring for his animals and cooking for his family. He was a former member of Thaxton Baptist Church and Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 10:00a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00a.m. at United Funeral Service. Bro. Wayne Ward will officiate.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Wardlaw Griffin; six daughters, Mandy Wise of Myrtle, Dawn Dillard (Jeff) of Thaxton, Hillary Mills (Nathan) of Myrtle, Taylor McKinney of Plantersville, Tori Hester (Trevor) of Thaxton and Savannah Griffin of Thaxton; eleven grandchildren: Lane Clifton, Cody Clifton, Gage Chism, Landon Herring, McKenzie Wise, Sawyer Mills, Lauren Mills, Lilly Mills, Riley Estes, Adalynn Hester and Penelope Hester; a great grandchild, Harper Starling; a sister, Tabitha Leininger; and a niece, Joie Leininger.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Bishop Leininger; his father, Norva Lee Griffin; the man who raised him as his own, Lee Leininger; a sister, Gena Ormstead; and a brother, Joe Griffin.
