Mrs. Patricia Jo “P.J.” Hansen Jones, 67, died on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Mrs. Jones was born in Minocqua, Wisconsin on February 4, 1955, to Jacqueline Hansen and the late and Merlin Kenneth Hansen. She was a member of Fellowship Methodist Church in Paris, MS. A veteran of the United States Army, Mrs. Jones served as a Captain. Following her military career, PJ earned her Master’s Degree in Education and worked in the Oxford School District, where she had a passion for teaching. Her love of teaching was shown through her dedication to the Oxford School District and was recognized by her peers and the district leadership when she was named Teacher of the Year at Della Davidson Elementary School in 2021. Affectionately known as Mrs. P.J., she developed close relationships with many children and their families throughout her career. She was dedicated to teaching and shaping young minds and had a gift of recognizing students that held needs not visible to all. Her nurturing heart always found ways to help through small acts of kindness, often unnoticed. Her family smiles thinking of the many coats she quietly handed out to children. She was an animal lover and adored her many pets she had throughout her lifetime. With a deep respect for nature, Mrs. Jones enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. She was never idle and found great joy in cleaning, keeping her home as neat and orderly as her classroom. Mrs. Jones’ nurturing spirit and kind heart will be missed by her family, students and teaching community. She was preceded in death by her brother, Craig Hansen and twin brother Scott Hansen.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her beloved husband, Harvey L. Jones of Water Valley, MS; son, Kenneth L. Jones of Newark, DE; brother, Jeffery Hansen and his wife, Debbie of Eau Claire, WI; and many beloved friends, coworkers and former students.
