Mrs. Betty Allen Conner, 81, died Saturday, November 19, 2022, at her home in Oxford, MS. The graveside service will be held in Yellow Leaf Cemetery on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. David Ard officiating. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Batesville, MS to the late Lawrence Purvis and Effie Bell Taylor Allen, Mrs. Conner retired from service as a Captain with the University Police Department. Betty was the first female to go through the Mississippi Police Academy. She was a member of Yellow Leaf Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her yard – mowing and tending to her flowers. Betty loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday because she cooked for her entire family of over forty people. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Conner, and brothers, Lawrence Allen and John Allen.
Mrs. Conner is survived her daughter, Cindy Tatum and her husband, Mike, of Oxford, MS; son, Ronnie Conner and his wife, Diane, of Clinton, MS; sister, Lorene Knight of Oxford, MS; brother, Bobby Allen and his wife, Mary Nell, of Jackson, MS; four grandchildren, Mallory Conner Cooley and her husband, Corey, Matthew Conner and his wife, Amanda Leigh, Gracie McGivney and her husband, Patrick, and Garrett Tatum; and nine great grandchildren.
