Mrs. Doris Houston Brown, 93, died Sunday, January 1, 2023, at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, MS. The funeral will be Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow in North Oxford Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was born on April 11, 1929, to the late David and Mamie Houston. She was a beloved and devout member of North Oxford Baptist Church. Mrs. Brown could spend hours in her flower garden and loved to spend all of the time she could with her grandchildren. She was known for her servant’s heart, always devoting her time to helping others and putting their needs ahead of her own. A member of the Skipwith Genealogy Society, Mrs. Brown was passionate about learning more about her history and where she came from. As a faithful wife and loving mother, family meant everything to her and was at the center of everything she did in life. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Loy Brown; her son, Mike Brown; and her sisters, Edna Erle Houston Brown and Lavinia Houston Jackson.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her son, Bill Brown and his wife, Deborah of Canton, MS; three grandchildren, Gary Brown of Goodman, MS, David Brown of Canton, MS, and Dakota Brown and his wife, Kaitlin of Hattiesburg, MS; five great-grandchildren, Haley Brown, Madison Brown, Alex Brown II, Mason Brown, and Walker Brown; and one great-great-granddaughter, Everleigh Marie Brown Lawson.
