Captain Ikey Carmack, 71, passed away May 21, 2023, at The Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo after a long illness. He was retired from the Tupelo Police Department after 31 years of service. He taught the DARE program at Milam Middle School for 14 years prior to his service retirement. He was a 1970 graduate of Pontotoc High School and a graduate of Ole Miss with a degree in Law Enforcement. He was a member of First Christian Church in Tupelo. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He leaves behind his special beloved dog, Maggie.
Services will be at 3:00pm Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Phillip Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors, wife of 26 years, Linda Wilder Carmack; daughter, Amanda Susalla (Harley) of Detroit, MI; sister, Bettye Thomas (David) of Houston, MS; seven grandchildren, Kaleb, Hayes, Gabe, Sawyer, Maynor Malone, Bella and Isaac Susalla; a very special cousin, Christi Traughber (Ed) of Florence, AL and a very dear friend Terry Morgan (Missy) of Madison, MS.
Preceded in death by, mother, Imogene Carmack; father, Fred Carmack; and a brother, Doug Carmack.
Pallbearers, Kaleb Malone, Hayes Malone, Gabe Malone, Sawyer Malone, Pete Fava and Terry Morgan; honorary, Members of Pontotoc High School graduating class of 1970.
Visitation, 12:00pm until service time Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
