Howard Crump
Saltillo – Howard Posey Crump, 86, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 after an extended illness. He was born March 6, 1937 in Aberdeen, MS to Willie Van Buren and Irma Jane Posey Crump. He was a 1955 graduate of Becker High School and he attended one year at Itawamba Junior College. He worked in the grocery industry as a store manager for Winn Dixie and Food World until his retirement. He was a people person who never met a stranger. He was an active member of Saltillo Methodist Church until his health started to decline. He enjoyed vegetable farming, hunting, fishing, traveling and all things Ole Miss. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his two fur babies, Sweetie and Sissy.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 2:30 – 4:00 P.M. at Saltillo Methodist Church with the service to follow at 4:00 P. M. Burial will be in the Beech Springs Cemetery, Tupelo, MS. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years Carol Littlejohn Crump; daughter Renee Crump Seymour (John Jefferson “Jeff”) of Columbia, MD; 3 sons, Van Crump (Tammy) Wiggins, MS, Dewayne Crump and Eddie Crump (Pam) of Saltillo, MS; one sister, Geneva Crump Moon of Becker, MS; one brother, Dewey Crump (Patty) of Trinity, AL and one sister-in-law, Joann Crump of Decatur, AL; 7 grandchildren, John Jefferson “JJ” Seymour III (Kayla Smith) of Bothell, WA, Daniel Crump, Grand Junction, CO, Stacy Stringer, Jackson, MS, Ashley Clowers (Kory) Pontotoc, MS, Dustin Crump Myrtle, MS, James Crump, Baldwyn, MS and William “Will” Crump (Kathryn) of Guntown, MS; 6 great-grandchildren, Kaylee Royce, Korbin, Kolby & Ainslee Clowers, Jessie Crump and Sawyer Rose Crump.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Hazel Crump England, Polly Crump Cavender, Dianne Crump Wilson and 2 brothers, J. D. Crump and Billy Crump.
Pall Bearers will be Kenneth Alexander, Ryan Alexander, Ron Helms, Ray Harris, Jason Milam, Dustin Crump, James Crump, Will Crump and John Jefferson “JJ” Seymour.
