Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” Ann Strahl Sneed, 76, died Friday, September 8, 2023, at her home in Oxford, MS, surrounded by her loving family. The funeral will be Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at North Oxford Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Richardson and Rev. Chris Williams officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, September 11, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. in West Hall of Waller Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday beginning at 12:30 P.M. until the time of service at North Oxford Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service in Union Church of the Nazarene Cemetery.
Peggy was born on April 6, 1947, in Memphis, TN, to the late Ruth “Carolyn” Stevens and Joseph Donald Strahl. For almost 50 years, Peggy was the beloved face of North Oxford Baptist Church, where she worked as the Ministry Assistant. She poured her heart into serving the Lord, the patrons of North Oxford, and her beloved co-workers and pastors. This devotion to Christ and the church brought Peggy the greatest joy in life. When she wasn’t in the church office, you could find her seated at the piano, sharing her musical talents with others. Peggy was known for her love of Ole Miss Basketball, especially the women’s team, and faithfully cheered them on through the years. When she received her diagnosis, instead of letting fear win, she resolved herself to celebrate the life she had left. This led Peggy on beautiful adventures to Alaska, The Great Smoky Mountains, and Togo, West Africa. She followed her beloved Rebels to Omaha, and cheered on the women’s basketball team at the Sweet 16. Peggy savored these precious memories, but the days that meant the very most to her were those spent with her children and grandchildren. Lovingly known as “Mamasan”, she loved her grandchildren with all of her heart and was grateful for each moment spent with them. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her dear husband, Ryland Eugene Sneed.
Peggy is survived by her daughters, Heather Sneed McClendon and her husband, Rob of Oxford, MS and Allison Rene Sneed and her husband, Armegis of Oxford, MS; her son, Patrick Ryland Sneed and his wife, Kayla of Oxford, MS; brother, Don Strahl and his wife, Lou of Millington, TN; and three grandchildren, Walker, Ava Ruth, and Mattie.
Expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions in Peggy’s memory may be made to the Togo Mission Fund through North Oxford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1700, Oxford, MS 38655.
