Thomas Edward Fowler

Mr. Thomas Edward Fowler, 78, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Sunshine Nursing Home in Pontotoc, MS. The family is hosting a celebration of life and visitation at their home on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at 405 Meadowlawn Drive, Oxford, MS 38655.

Mr. Fowler was born on September 17, 1945, in Valdosta, Georgia, to Paul and Dorothy Fowler. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served as a Lieutenant Naval Intelligence Officer on the U.S.S. Pickering during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, Mr. Fowler began his career as a Human Resources Administrator. In his free time, he loved spending afternoons on the golf course, or watching the Cubs or Ole Miss games. He was a deeply devoted father, grandfather and husband and most enjoyed the precious moments spent with his family. Some of his fondest memories were of his family trips to their lake house where they would spend the days boating, fishing and enjoying one another’s company.

Mr. Fowler’s life and legacy are summed up best by the words below written by his daughters, Casey and Corey:

“A father like you is rare, one that is so generous, smart and kind.

A father like you is what everyone needs, full of love and always doing great deeds.

Nothing can replace a father like you, but when you get to heaven, God will be truly lucky to have you.

Dad, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure.”

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Kay Fowler of New Albany, MS; two daughters, Kimberly “Casey” Kohl and her husband, David, of Charlotte, NC and Corey Ussery and her husband, Michael, of Oxford, MS; sister, Patricia Paul of Chicago, IL; and grandchildren, Hannah Kohl, Paige Kohl, Reed Ussery, and Lauren Ussery. He was preceded in death by his late and beloved wife of 38 years, Nancy Higgins Fowler.
