Jeffrey Rowan Clifton
Booneville- Jeffrey Rowan Clifton, 47, passed away on Monday, March 18, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a beloved brother, son, and friend to all. His family and friends were with him every minute of the last few weeks of his earthly life. Those days were precious, because although Jeff was very sick; he was able to laugh, talk, and reminisce.
Jeff was born on December 28, 1976. He is survived by his father William Gary Clifton, and brother, Jon Clifton (Amber) all of Booneville, as well as a host of other family members.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Linda Kay Clifton, his grandparents Howard “Sap” and Maxine Rowan, WD and Retha Clifton.
He graduated from Booneville High School in 1995. He received his Associate’s Degree from Northeast Mississippi Community College. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from his beloved Mississippi State University and his Master’s Degree from University of North Alabama in Information Systems. Jeff was a connector of people during his time at each of these schools, but, especially at Starkville. He helped build lifelong friendships and his legacy will live on through those connections.
Jeff was a 16-year employee at Mid-America Apartment Communities in Memphis. He led the IT support desk and HR departments for several years. He turned co-workers into steadfast friends and left an unforgettable impression on everyone he worked with. Behind his office antics, witty nicknames, and infamous jokes, he was a big-hearted friend who would give anyone the shirt off his back. Jeff was recognized at MAA as a Culture Ambassador in 2012, named a Star Performer in 2016, and won the Corporate Excellence Award for HR in 2020. He will always be remembered at MAA for his eagerness to help, huge grin and infectious chuckle.
Jeff was an avid Mississippi State fan, who loved watching all MSU sporting events, going to concerts, and spending time with his friends. He was the mastermind behind many lively tailgate gatherings in the Junction. Often, what people enjoyed as much as the actual game day was the hilarious emails he sent out prior. March Madness will never be the same for many of his friends because Jeff was the ringleader and hype man for a friendly competition. Jeff will forever be remembered by those who love him for his contagious smile, servant heart, and love for Mississippi State Bulldogs. Anyone who ever met him will never forget him; he had a natural gift of making others feel better while loving wholeheartedly.
