Alicia Marie Mott blessed the world with her presence on January 28, 1956, in Jackson, Mississippi. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 22, 2024, in Oxford, Mississippi.
A lifelong artist, Alicia deeply appreciated the beauty in God’s creations, and reflected that appreciation in her artwork. She began her career in nursing, and later transitioned to becoming a full-time homemaker, mother and artist. She decorated her world with her colorful, uplifting artwork, which often featured flowers, cats, scripture and her favorite poems. Her greatest creation was her son, Spencer, who is also an artist.
Survivors include her son, Spencer Burns Pleasants; Spencer’s dad, David Burns Pleasants; her brother, Shane Mott of North Carolina; nieces Ashley and Carly Mott of North Carolina and their mother and stepfather, Robin and George Holcombe; her blond earth angel cat, Bobo; and countless friends near and far.
Family who eagerly awaited her in Heaven include her parents, Bette LaNelle and William Russell Mott, beloved aunt and uncle Yvonne and Louis DiStefano, and many precious pets.
Visitation will take place at 11 am on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Clubhouse at Cambridge Station Apartments in Oxford, Mississippi. A Celebration of Life will follow at noon. The family requests that you wear a bright, colorful outfit, in honor of Alicia’s love of color.
Honorary pallbearers are David Pleasants, Shane Mott, Antonio Chavez, Robert McAuliffe, William Rankin, Daniel Inman and Derek Russell. Special honorary pallbearers are Anthony Bourdain, Gregg Allman, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Dog the Bounty Hunter.
