Joseph was a native of Oxford, Mississippi and resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Birmingham Southern College and the University of Mississippi School of Law. He was an attorney with the Louisiana Department of Justice and a former clerk to the Honorable Meredith S. Grabill and the Honorable John S. Hodge. Joseph was a Young Benefactor of the World War II Museum and a faithful member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was also a proud Eagle Scout.
Joseph was known for his easygoing manner, big beard, and cowboy hat. He had a way of being a big brother to everyone and was always a good guy to have around in a crisis. He had some big adventures—sailing around the Caribbean in college, working at a ranch, and going on a honeymoon safari, but his favorite adventure was being husband to Alexandra and father to Daisy James.
In addition to his wife and daughter, he leaves behind his parents, Ronald and Claire Rychlak of Oxford, MS, and his five younger sisters; Lindsey Wilkins (Richard), Susanna Allen (Will), Mary Helen Rychlak, Sally Rychlak, and Olivia Rychlak. He was also the favorite uncle of Samantha Wilkins and Mae Allen. He was the son-in-law of Elisa Bruce and the late James Bruce, and the brother-in-law of Daisy Bruce. He was the maternal grandson of LaNelle Lindsey and the late Paul Lindsey, and paternal grandson of the late Joseph Frank Rychlak and Lenora Smith Rychlak.
He will be deeply missed by all.
