Willie Lee Schmitz

Willie Lee Schmitz, 84 of Derma, passed away on October 2, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Oxford. Born on March 22, 1940, in Calhoun County, Mississippi, Willie was a dedicated and hardworking individual prior to retirement she worked for Gulf Coast Tile and also Babysat children. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family.

Willie will be deeply missed by her surviving relatives, including her daughters Melinda Hardin of Pontotoc, MS,  Patsy (Carlos) Perez of Nettleton, MS, and Betty Eisenburg of Calhoun City, Ms, as well as her sons Tommy (Debbie) Schmitz, Calhoun City, MS, and Roger Schmitz of Vardaman, MS. She is also survived by her sister Denise Kimbell and 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Willie found joy and solace in various hobbies such as crafts, sewing, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and watching reality TV shows. Her warm presence and kind heart touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

A public viewing in memory of Willie Lee Schmitz will be held at Drivers Flat Baptist Church on October 4, 2024, at 5:00 pm until 8:00 PM. The funeral service to commemorate her life will take place at the same location on October 5, 2024, at 11:00 am with Bro. Wade Myles officiating. Following the service, Willie will be laid to rest in Drivers Flat Cemetery. Aaron Cockrell, Lang Hood, Leland Hood, Craig Schmitz, Joseph Schmitz, Michael Schmitz, and Stacy Schmitz will serve as Pallbearers.

Willie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Schmitz, father, Joseph Sheilds sr, mother, Pauline Davis Shields, brothers, Jimmy Shields, Joseph Shields Jr, grandchildren, Carlton Lee Dover and Shay Hart.
