June 26, 1936 ~ December 30, 2024

Darlene Daffin Lominick departed this life peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024, in Oxford, Mississippi, with her family surrounding her. A private burial will be held at a later date in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Mrs. Lominick was born in Jackson County, Mississippi, on June 26, 1936. She graduated from Moss Point High School and attended Mississippi University for Women and the University of Southern Mississippi. Through the years, she lived in Moss Point, Natchez, Vicksburg and Oxford, Mississippi; Bastrop, Louisiana; and Camden, Arkansas, and was involved in many community and church activities.

Mrs. Lominick was an avid bridge player, careful homemaker, and generous hostess — hospitality being one of her many natural gifts. With a ready smile and a kind word for everyone, she never met a stranger. She was quick to laugh and loved getting to know new people – always hoping to find common ground.

She especially loved the company of her grandchildren, taking great pride in their activities and achievements.

Mrs. Lominick was preceded in death by her husband Wesley Randolph Lominick, Jr., her parents, Alton Loren Daffin, Sr., and Bertie Mae Daffin of Moss Point, Mississippi, and her brother, Alton Loren Daffin, Jr., of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is survived by her daughter, Wren Clark Dabney (Bill), four grandchildren, William Presley “Trip” Dabney III (Miranda); Alison Dabney Logan (Drake); Sally Kate Dabney; Thompson Alton “Tad” Dabney; and one great-grandchild, Adeline Renley Dabney.

She is additionally survived by her stepdaughter Anne Lominick Portera (Chris) of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, and their children, Ashley and Wesley Portera, and by her stepson, Wesley R. Lominick, III (Debbie) of Madison, Mississippi, and their children, Claire, Liza and Elly Lominick.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Janet Carpenter Daffin of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and her nieces Alison Daffin Montgomery (husband, Mark, and children Kate, Gustav and Mathilde) of La Paz, Mexico; and Valerie Daffin Maher (husband, Chris, and children Milo and Caleb) of Taos, New Mexico.
