Mary Sue “SueBelle” Dutton

July 7, 1934 ~ December 26, 2024

Mary Sue “SueBelle” Dutton, a long-time resident of Memphis, Tennessee, and Olive Branch, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in Oxford, Mississippi. At the age of 90, Sue joined her Lord and Savior, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home, 419 MS-6, Oxford, MS 38655, with Rev. Jody Schmelzer officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M.

Sue was born on July 7, 1934, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Wendell and Edith Chittum. She grew up in Shawnee, Oklahoma, alongside her sister Helen, and graduated from Shawnee High School. It was there, in the eighth grade, that she met the love of her life, Billy Eugene Dutton. Sue and Bill were married on June 12, 1952, in Shawnee and shared a beautiful life together, celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary in 2018.

A devoted homemaker and mother, Sue’s unwavering love and care shaped the lives of her three daughters. She played an instrumental role in helping Bill establish a new startup business, dedicating countless hours to ensuring its success. Beyond her devotion to her family, Sue found joy in creative pursuits such as sewing, crocheting, and quilting, gifting her handmade treasures to loved ones. Sue was also a phenomenal gardener, taking many plants and flowers, reviving them to a new and long life.

Sue and Bill shared a love for adventure, spending time traveling in their motorhome, exploring surrounding lakes, and enjoying fishing and boating – and a passion for camping. Above all, Sue’s heart belonged to the beach, particularly in Florida, where she treasured sunsets, never leaving until the day’s final light faded from the horizon.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Bill, and her sister Helen. She is survived by her daughters Debbie Timmons (Buster) of Panama City, FL; Sherry Reichert (Steve) of Montgomery, TX; and Lori Markle (Ken) of Oxford, MS. She leaves behind seven grandchildren—Kyle, Greer, Graham, Karli, Dalton, Reed, and Cole—and six great-grandchildren: Cecilia, Mila, Hayes, Porter, Colton, and Ignatius.

The family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Sue’s honor at https://www.komen.org/how-to-help/donate/.

Sue’s warmth, creativity, and steadfast love touched all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.
