Clara Mae Thompson

Sis. Clara Thompson was born July 29, 1940 to Odell and Eva Gaston, the seventh child of nine children. She peacefully departed this earthly life on October 12, 2019 at her home. She was united in marriage to Vollie “Sam” Thompson and remained for 52 years. She was the loving mother of six children. She was a faithful member of Chandlers Temple C.M.E. Church, where she served on many auxiliaries. She was a faithful Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and Missionary President at her church as well as District level. Clara loved to sing and serve wherever needed. She served as Choir President and began her singing as a member of the Celestial Choir under the leadership of Sis. Elvora Roberson. She had a strong belief in her faith and stood by the doctrines of the C.M.E. Church and was not afraid to speak the truth. She leaves to mourn her husband, Vollie “Sam” Thompson, her children: Eva Hampton (Bobby) of Itawamba County, JoJean Coleman of Verona, Jackie Jones (Sondra) of Arkansas, Robert “Dell” Thompson (Alfreda) of Scuba, MS and Bobby Thompson of Verona; her brothers: Otis Gaston (Lorraine) of Waterloo, Iowa, and Rodney Gaston (Olivia) of Bruce, MS; sisters: Rosie Hearvey (Sylvester) of Bruce, MS, Hattie Westmoreland of Chicago, IL, Odessa Marie Daniel (Roger) of Memphis, TN and Lesia Gaston of Bruce, MS; sister-in-law: Mattie Ash of Dayton, OH; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. One daughter, three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
