Clifton Leodis Chrestman

Clifton Leodis Chrestman, age 90, passed this earthly life on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the State Veterans Home in Oxford after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun City, August 10, 1929 to the late parents of Dewel C. Chrestman and Willie Young Chrestman. Leodis was a former farmer, barber and employee with the Mississippi Highway Department (MDOT). He served his country during the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He supported and was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and the Woodmen of The World. He was an active member of the Bruce Church of Christ.  Leodis had a great knowledge of the Bible and studied the Scripture and lived life according to its teaching.  He enjoyed his knife collection, his gun collection and trading knives.  He was a sports fan and especially loved to watch as many football games as possible, supporting his favorite teams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Dorothy Jeneva Hynes and Marcelle Chrestman.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 58 years, Ernestine Mize Chrestman, Bruce, MS; daughter, Shirley (Randy) Schmitz, Bruce, MS; son, Tony Rex Snyder, Bowser, TX; sisters, Carolyn (Mike) Pirtle, Olive Branch, MS and Shirley Sue (Kenneth) Pulley, Millington, TN; brother, Elmo Chrestman, Houlka, MS; grandchildren, Gary (Lisa) Schmitz, Steve Schmitz, Deana (Joey) Ferguson, Rexanne (Jason) Collins, Vicki Howe (Joey) and Anthoney Wayne Snyder; great grandchildren, Aubrey Schmitz, Amber Jernigan, Marlie Marter, McKenzie Marter, Jake Ferguson, Jase Ferguson, Heather MCullough, Steven Davis, Ashley Davis, Kayla Howe and Paige Howe; and five great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home, Bruce, MS from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. A funeral service honoring Mr. Chrestman will also be Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery. Bro. Darrel Logan and Elder J. F. Dancer will be officiating in the service.

Pallbearers will be Matt Jernigan, McKenzie Marter, Aubrey Schmitz, Gary Schmitz, Steve Schmitz and Johnny Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike King, Bobby Dale McGreger, Bobby Stribling and Earl Swanson.
