David Reed McGee, Sr.

David Reed McGee, Sr., known to his family and friends as “Simon” was born to the late Willie McGee and the late Elgenia Devauld on October 12, 1939. He departed this life on November 2, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice, Tupelo, MS. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with New  Hebron M. B. Church.   He leaves to cherish his memories a significant other for numerous years, Clara Dabbs, Pontotoc, MS.

His memories will be forever in the hearts of his children:  (4) sons:  David R. (Nancy) McGee, Jr., Frank S. (Bessie) McGee, Aberdeen, MS and Bernard (Emma) McGee, Amory, MS, Raymond (Lizzie) James, Aberdeen, MS.  (5) daughters:  Gloria J. McGee, Aberdeen, MS, Lois (Jim) Hutchinson, Hamilton, MS, Bridget (Roger) McGee, Tupelo, MS, Shonda (William) Hampton and Carla (Mike) Beasley, Okolona, MS.

(4) step-children:  Lenora (Curtis) Elzie, Glennis Bailey, Johnnie Ruth Bailey, Pontotoc, MS and Herbert (Jennifer) Bailey, Tupelo, MS.  (40) grandchildren, (34) great-grandchildren and (4) great-great-grandchildren.

(1) sister:  Shirley Miller, Amory, MS.  (1) brother: Charlie (Shirley) McGee, West Point, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

(3) children preceded him in death:  Tommy Ray, Kim and Deancynt).  (2) brothers preceded him in death:  Otis McGee and Ronnie Michael Boggan. (1) sister preceded him in death, Loistein Griffin.
