Jim Eldridge Lloyd

Jim Eldridge Lloyd, 68, passed away on Wednesday, June 6th, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mr. Lloyd was born to Thomas E. Lloyd and Blanche Eaves Lloyd on July 16, 1949 in Houston, Mississippi.
     As a member of the Houston High School graduating class of 1967, Jim pursued and earned an A.A. Degree from Itawamba Junior College and a Bachelor’s of Science from Delta State University. Eventually, that yearning for Education resulted in being awarded a Master’s Degree from The University of Mississippi.
     Jim devoted his working life to education. This would include being a teacher in Vardaman, along with serving Cumberland High School as a Guidance Counselor. Eventually, Jim’s career would call him to East Webster Elementary School, where he would serve until his retirement in 1997.
Being a prideful and true sportsman, Jim coached both baseball and basketball while in education. His hobbies included fishing and hunting, along with following Mississippi State Athletic teams, where he took special pride in the women’s basketball teams.
     Above all, Jim enjoyed sharing his life with his friends and family, in which he took a fond interest in creating special memories with his grandchildren. He was a member Vardaman First Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowship with the members of the Men’s Adult III Sunday School group. He will be missed by all of the lives he touched.
     Jim leaves behind his wife, Gloria “Dumpy” Gilder Lloyd of Vardaman; Son Jason Eldridge (Lisa) Lloyd of Senatobia; Daughter Allyson (Chad) Cummings of Pontotoc; Sister Rebecca Lloyd (James) Duke of Tupelo; and Grandchildren Tanner (Nicole) Lloyd, Caley Lloyd, Tate Lloyd, and Jack Lloyd Cummings.
     There will be a visitation with the family on Thursday Evening, June 7th, 2018 at Vardaman First Baptist Church from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A funeral service honoring Jim’s life will be held Friday Morning, June 8th at Vardaman First Baptist Church starting at 11:00 am. Pallbearers will be Tanner Lloyd, Reed Taylor, Clay Spencer, John Waits, Jeff Taylor, and Marc Hellrung. Honorary pallbearers will be Adult Men's III Sunday School Class members.
     Services will be led by Brother Joey Hamilton and Brother James Towery. He will be laid to rest following services in Midway Cemetery.
     Jim was preceded in death by his Mother and Father.
     Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted by the Lloyd family during their time of need.
