Karen Long

When Karen Long transitioned from this life on January 5, 2018, at the North Mississippi Medical Center, God called an Angel home to sing with the Angels in Heaven. Karen was born on June 29, 1956, in Lee County to the late Charles Thomas and Elizabeth Long. Karen attended Shannon High School. She enjoyed fishing as her favorite Pastime. She was a huge fan of baseball and enjoyed watching her son play the game. Most of all, she loved spending time gathering with family and friends.

She leaves behind to cherish two sons, Earnest (Natessa) Long and Patrick (Patrice) Long, both of Shannon, MS, (6 grandchildren) Mareico (Alkill) Swingrom, China Hill, Leonte Gales, LaWayne Long, Neshia Long and her "smurfed" Patience Long, (6 sisters) Naomi Long, Martha Blackmon (Kenneth) of Tupelo, MS, Betty Edwards (Wayne) of Shannon, MS, Shirley Long (Larry) of Okolona, MS, Carolyn Meredith (Jimmy) of Nettleton, MS, Rhonda Long (Nettle) of Nettleton, MS, and one brother, Billy Joe (Charlotte) Long of Tupelo, MS, Uncle Jimmy Lee of Verona, MS, Aunt Hannah, Idol Mae, Patsy, Dorothy, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was proceeded in death by her mother the late Mrs. Elizabeth Long, her father Charles Thomas, (2) brothers, Charles, Jr. and Terry Long.
