Melba Reedy Hitt, 87, of Vardaman passed from this life on February 10, 2020 at North Mississippi
Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Born on January 18, 1933, Melba was one of two children
born to Jim Reedy and Lillie Estelle Russell Reedy.
Melba was a faithful employee of the Kellwood Company before retiring and deciding to explore the
leisure side of life. She adored her gospel music and loved going to singings. Melba found joy in the
kitchen where she put together many delicious meals. She further took delight in using her green
thumb to cultivate a beautiful garden. Melba held in her soul the cure to death, a relationship with
Jesus where she worshiped Him at Midway Baptist Church.
Melba leaves behind an expansive family to carry her memory; two sons, Carl (Genevieva)
Edmondson of Vardaman, Mississippi; Ken (Dianne) Edmondson of Pontotoc, Mississippi; daughter,
Diane (Danny) Kirby of Mantee, Mississippi; two step-sons, Jeff Clements of Vardaman, Mississippi;
Jerry Clements of Tupelo, Mississippi; step- daughter, Nita James of Slate Springs, Mississippi; 10
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents; Jim Reedy and Lillie Estelle Russell Reedy; husbands, Robert
Holloway, James Thomas Edmondson, Billy Wayne Clements and John Hitt; sons, Billy Wayne
Edmondson, and Robert Dale Holloway; sister, Olena Kokajko.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Parker
Memorial Funeral Home of Vardaman. In addition to the visitation, a funeral service honoring
Melba’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 beginning 2:00 PM in the chapel of
Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Vardaman. Bro. Al Gaspard will officiate the service.
Shawn Edmondson, Toby Edmondson, Justin Holloway, Daniel Kirby, Chris Lucius, Jared Pennington,
and Jimmy Pennington will serve the family as pallbearers.
