Columbus- Mrs. Mary Kathleen “Big Momma” Jones Colbert, 95, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Aurora Health and Rehab in Columbus, Mississippi. She was born in Kennedy, Alabama on October 20, 1924 to Almer A. Jones and Annie Mae Bryant. She was a childcare provider for many years where she kept children in her home.
Visitation will be for immediate family on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 2:30 P.M. at McCondy Cemetery.
Burial will be at McCondy Cemetery in McCondy, Mississippi.
Houston Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Colbert is survived by her daughter, Joann Allred Coleman of Hamilton, and a stepdaughter, Le Elizabeth Riley of Tupelo; one son, Larry Allred of Columbus; 9 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, and one great great- great grandchild.
Mrs. Colbert was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband of 50 years, R. A. “Red” Colbert; one son, Billy Ray Allred; one stepdaughter, Louise McCollum; three brothers; 2 sisters; and one grandson, Ricky Helton.
Private Funeral services will be at McCondy Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. at the cemetery.
