On March 25, 2020, William Albert Carter transitioned from this life at North MS Medical Center in Pontotoc, MS.
William was born on April 13, 1939, in Tippah County, to Theodore Roosevelt Carter, Sr. and Wysie Godwin Carter.
William was a faithful member of Good Shepard Church of God in Christ, Pontotoc, MS
He attended school at Ripley Consolidated School System in Ripley, MS, and worked for the City of Ripley for years, upon retirement from there, he worked at Purnell’s Pride Chicken Hatchery in Tupelo, MS, then he was employed with MS Eaton Corporation in Pontotoc, MS, until he retired. He then took on the faithful duties of taking care of his wife, Martha Carter until her passing.
He was married to the late Martha G. Carter, on March 23, 1963 and to this union three children were born, the late Albert D. Carter, Cassandra Carter and Lori Carter King. He had an older daughter from a previous marriage, Elizabeth Troy Carter.
He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Troy Carter of Aurora, IL, Cassandra Carter and Lori Carter King (Archie) of Pontotoc, MS, seven grandchildren, Ashaley Carter Clark (Milton), Courtney Carter Brown (Tevin), Alicia King, LaDarius King, Saniya King, Tiffany McGuire, Michelle Holmes, ten great-grandchildren, Ashton Carter, Kynleigh Carter, Hayleigh Brown, Milton Clark III, Carleigh Brown, Carson Brown and Dalton Brown, two sisters-in-law, Shirley King (Hollis) of South Bend, IN, Donna Jones of Saltillo, MS, nieces , Starlette Vance of Ripley, MS, Michelle Bailey (James) of New Albany, MS, Helen Palmer of Ripley, MS, Charlotte Morton, of Kentwood, MI, Debra L. Barnes of Gary, IN, nephews, Paul Ratliff, Jr. (Diony), of Alexander, AR, Cedric Carter (Scott) of Kentwood, MI and Christopher Carter of Pensacola, FL, a host of other relatives and friends. One special cousin, John McShan Dillard (Coon), two special former church members who visited him weekly, Mrs. Gertrude Ball and Mrs. Dorothy Dandridge both of Pontotoc, MS
He is preceded in death by his parents Theodore Roosevelt Carter, Sr., and Wysie Godwin Carter, son Albert D. Carter, his wife, Martha G. Carter, a great grandson, Amari Jude Clark and his siblings, Ollie Ratliff, Roosevelt Carter, Jr. and John Wyatt Carter.
