William M. “Buddy” Clark departed his earthly home Tuesday, April 21, 2020. He was born October 25, 1938 in Prentiss County. Buddy served his country in the Mississippi National Guard from 1956-1957. He made his home in the Tuscumbia community where he raised two children with Exie, his wife of 53 years.

During his life, Buddy enjoyed working with his hands – working the majority of his life for various district supervisors in Prentiss County. He also worked for Bonds Paving while owning his own asphalt trucking business. Buddy and Exie owned Tuscumbia One Stop for five years. Buddy also served two consecutive terms as First District Supervisor of Prentiss County. Upon retirement from public service, he enjoyed a quiet life at home surrounded by his family.

In his younger years, Buddy loved bird hunting and raising bird dogs. He enjoyed tinkering with old vehicles and reading about the Civil War. He also had a passion for old coins and guns.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Bertha Clark; a sister, Quida Clark; and a sister-in-law, Sue Ann Burcham. He is survived by his wife, Exie; daughter, Mary “Liz” Clark; and son, Jerry Clark; four grandchildren – Brittney (Jason) Downs; Jody Clark; Megan Lee Jones; and Amber (Kyle) Smith; eight great-grandchildren – Emmalee Starnes, Avery Jones, Kaden Jones, Paxton Smith, Saylor Smith, Sawyer “Buddy” Smith, and two on the way – Jake Downs and Lottie Jo Downs; one sister, Geraldine Hester; and his favorite cousin, Jackie (Ann) Nichols of Byhalia.

Graveside services will be held Friday, April 24, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Smith Chapel Cemetery in Tuscumbia with Brother Paul Ray Hall officiating. Service are under the direction of McMillan Funeral Home.
